“Patriotic Ginbot-7 Movement for Justice, Freedom and Democracy” (a.k.a. Patriots Ginbot-7) is an outlawed Ethiopian group.
It was formed by the merger of two groups; that is, the Ginbot-7 Movement for Justice, Freedom and Democracy led by US resident Berhanu Nega (PhD) which is proscribed as terrorist by Ethiopian parliament in 2011, and the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (a.k.a Arbegnoch Ginbar) led by Eritrea-resident Meazaw Getu.
The merger was officiated in January 2015 in Eritrea. Both Berhanu Nega and Meazaw Getu, became co-chairpersons of Patriotic Ginbot-7.
The group has been claiming major military operations in west Tigrai in late July 2015.
