Eritrea says: Ethiopia and ‘external forces’ blocked its TV transmission

Eritrean government claimed that the Ethiopian government “with the complicity of external forces” blocked the satellite transmission of the Eritrea’s sole state-owned broadcaster – ERINA.

The Foreign Ministry said, last Tuesday, that:

‘the source of the jamming being conducted against Eritrean satellite broadcast has been confirmed to be Ethiopia. Disclosing this fact, the Riyadh-based Arab Satellite Communications said that it has told the regime in Addis Ababa that the practice is illegal’.

The head of the of Eritrean Television accused that:

‘in continuation of its hostile policy of blocking information disseminated from Eritrea, the [Ethiopian] regime, with the complicity of external forces, is engaged in jamming and interfering activities.’

He also warned that Eritrea will ‘take legal action against the Addis Ababa regime which is conducting illegal jamming activities’.

The Ethiopian government hasn’t so far commented on the matter.

Similar problem of inaccessibility is observed with the Arab Satellite transmission of the main channel of the Ethiopian Television (ETV) since Tuesday.
