EFFORT

The Endowment Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT), established in 1995, is a conglomerate of more than a dozen business firms operating in Ethiopia.

The Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front(TPLF), which acquired a sizable asset during its armed struggle, transferred more than $100 million to EFFORT, with the primary objective of “contributing to the sustainable development efforts” in the region.

EFFORT’s firms are often described as TPLF parastatals due to the overlap of their leadership, even though EFFORT was established as Endowment – the initial donor will have no claim to the capital nor to the profits.
