ANDM

Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) is a regional party established in Belesa, Tigray, by former members of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Party (EPRP) in 1980.

It was originally named Ethiopian Peoples’ Democratic Movement (EPDM). It was re-named ANDM in 1993 after modifying its program with explicit focus on Amhara region.

ANDM is the governing party in Amhara region. And it has been member of the ruling party EPRDF (Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front) since 1991.

Demeke Mekonen is the chairperson of ANDM since 2010.
