Uhuru Kenyatta, born on October 26, 1961, is the fourth and current President of Kenya. He is the son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first president. He is an alumnus of Amherst College.
Kenyatta was elected president in 2013 under The National Alliance (TNA), which was part of the Jubilee Alliance, with his running mate William Ruto’s United Republican Party (URP).
Kenyatta was charged by the International Criminal Court (ICC) as an indirect co-perpetrator in the 2007-08 post-election violence that left more than 1200 people dead and half-a-million people displaced. ICC dropped the charged in December 2014.
