Ethiopia captures Al-Shabaab operative sent to attack the Capital

Ethiopia’s counter-terrorism unit reported it has captured suspected AlShabaab operative.

The suspect, who is referred to as a male, was said to have been trained by Somalia’ terrorist group Al-Shabbab, and sent with a mission to conduct a terror attack in the Capital city.

The brief statement, released on Tuesday evening, by the Joint Counter Terrorism Unit of the National Intelligence and Security Service and the Federal Police, did not provide details.

Last Thursday,  United States Embassy in Addis Ababa alerted its citizens claiming that:

The Embassy continues to receive credible threat reports of Al-Shabaab’s intent and capability to attack Ethiopia and western interests in Ethiopia.  In recent weeks, there have been several incursions along the Ethiopian-Somali border.  While there is no known specific information regarding the timing or location of an attack, we would like to remind U.S. citizens to be especially vigilant in areas where large numbers of U.S. and western citizens congregate, including restaurants, hotels, bars, places of worship, supermarkets, and shopping malls.

On Monday , Britain’s Embassy issued similar warning for its citizens.
