Upgrading of the 4.2-km road from Meskel Square to Bole Ring Road in Addis Ababa City was launched here on Friday.
The road will be upgraded with 60 million USD secured in loan from Export-Import Bank of China.
City Mayor Kuma Demeksa on the occasion called on the public and the contractor company to cooperate in reducing the possible traffic congestion, which may occur during upgrading of the road.
Addis Ababa City Roads Authority Director-General Eng. Fekade Haile on his part said upgrading of the road will be completed within two and a half years.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Xie Xiaoyan on his part said upgrading of the road will further strengthen existing relations between Ethiopia and China.
The Ambassador said China will provide support towards success of Ethiopia’s five-year Growth and Transformation Plan.

Bole road construction has killed many business along bole road. Many business has suffered badly due the Government interest in having the project finish for the Africa Union meeting in July. The project was post to take two years but they half it. Instead of half the road being opened whilst construction was push forward for the meeting. This has damage locally businesses heavily. Who cares?
