  1. Tsadkan is making a realistic proposal on how practically we can all work together as Ethiopians to solve the critical problem we have and the danger of fragmentation and chaos. He did not write a hairsplitting academic paper. He is not sitting in the comfort zone of Western Universities and write from a well protected environment. He is sitting in a country where a lot of his former comrades are fuming and angry about the courageous article he wrote inviting for sane and reasonable practical approach on how to solve our problems. He showed that he is above the Ethnic branding. He is realistically looking at what is going on in South Sudan (where he has a deep experience), Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Burundi, leave alone Syria, Iraq etc..and trying somehow to trigger a dialogue for Ethiopia before it is too late. So do not judge him with what ethnic group he is, where he was etc. Just look at the issue he raised, the concern he expressed and ask yourself what contribution did you make for peaceful resolution of our country problems without further destruction. Remember what the people, children and women of Yemen, Syria, South Sudan etc are going through. What have each of us contributed? Why are we always critical tearing down well meaning people and not making contribution for a realistic contribution? Why are we questioning the courage of individuals who time and again proved to have it while we are sitting in exile under the protection of a nuclear power and shoot at any attempt to realistically address our problem. Time to get out of our traditional hairsplitting, stubborn and one sided perception of things that coasted us a lot in the last 40 years and get on with practical moves. Stop cross examining, interrogating people for their beliefs and activities, manifestation of coward politics, throwing around labels, stop consuming political propaganda as the only truth, change our mind set. Tsdkan has written an article and made a contribution to a practical, positive dialogue. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

  2. This is called maturity by experience.

If the foundation wasn’t created appropriately, whatever that comes after that will always have a problem. Hence, the government should allow dialog in order to correct mistakes that exist in the foundation.

  3. For the first time, I am hearing an Ethiopian high-ranking official (former to be sure) saying “he doesn’t know” something. Now I understand why the General had to “be kicked out” (according the official news) or resign according to his version. He is sane and sensible and no way such a person can work with this regime. What puzzles me though is that success in any form in Ethiopia today is synonymous with theft dishonesty cheating etc and yet the “best” minds of the regime still don’t see that. Power and money sedate human mind; the are sedated big time. The public institutions are captured by a particular group like their own private business. One simple example– has any member of the opposition parties or any non-EPRDF member Ethiopian been admitted to Civil Service College, ever? what does that tell you???? Ethiopians are patient, otherwise these people have been shooting themselves in their legs for a long time. It just about time things have become serious and too obvious to ignore.
